Tips For Your  Upcoming Wedding - UK Government Guidelines & Covid-19

Last week was another blow to most of us in the wedding planning journey with the numbers being further reduced by the UK government from 30 to 15.

Many of our couples are asking about postponing or just carrying on and this really depends on you as a couple.

With this in mind we want to remind you that love is not cancelled! You may not be able to have all the guests you want  present though you can still get married ...you can still walk around our religious scriptures for blessing or the sacred fire or any other south Asian tradition to take your vows as a couple. Love is not cancelled as you have each other!

The most important thing that has been clarified by the UK government at the time of writing this piece is that the suppliers are not included in the 15 but you and your other half are included in the 15.

More guidance can be found on https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-small-marriages-and-civil-partnerships/covid-19-guidance-for-small-marriages-and-civil-partnerships

Our peers in the industry have been extremely creative to ensure weddings can be planned and executed safely.

One of my favourites has to be the innovative drive through wedding options:

The structure of the service is pretty simple – the happy couple arrive at a chosen location in their car to meet the celebrant and the two witnesses. The ceremonies are also really short to make sure they comply with government restrictions.

The couple has the option to remain in their car throughout the ceremony, and the necessary paperwork is passed through the window to be signed and confirmed.

Covid- 19 Hints/Tips For Upcoming Weddings:-

·       Insurance- Check, read and reread your insurance policies and make sure you have them to hand. I only know of one company that’s insuring at the moment but they do not cover covid:

Compare Wedding Insurance

·       Email Booked Suppliers- Send a brief email to booked vendors to ask about their policies for weddings in the next 6 months. What policies do they have in place for weddings after this time frame, if any. It’s good to know as we’re not sure how long this is going to last…

·       Pending Suppliers- Are there any amazing suppliers you have been in talks with? If you have their proposals but are yet to book them and pay a deposit, it might be worth checking in with them and see if they can offer a service such as a “Holding Deposit”

·       Information- Collate all information together from all suppliers so if the time comes ( hopefully it won’t) you are ready and armed with what you need to make the right decision. For you either to postpone or go ahead with your initial date!

We hope that the above few steps will help to ease the pressure of the uncertainty at this time and help you in making those decisions in the up and coming months.
