Ten Ways To Prepare For Your Wedding Flower Consultation

All our wedding consultations are being offered via zoom due to the unprecedented times. We want to keep you and our team safe. We will offer the same high level of service.

Before booking in for a wedding consultation with us the following tips are here to help you and our flower designers work to build the best florals for your wedding day.

The first two ways to prepare are the most important! If we don't know your date we can't know if we have availability to take on your wedding. We understand this may be challenging as you may have a date but then may need to move this with Covid-19 however we are here to help you so keep us updated with any changes.

Also, if you haven't chosen your wedding venue your florist can't give recommendations on how to choose flowers to decorate it.

1.      Have your wedding date chosen.

The time of year you are getting married may mean some flowers have limited availability and can only be sourced during specific seasons or months of the year. In providing your wedding date this will allow us to give you an accurate floral quote as well as offer suggestions about blooms that will be in season at the time of your wedding. Flower prices fluctuate year around based on the availability. As with most florists we also have limited availability for weddings each week and knowing your date will allow us to check our availability so check in with us sooner to avoid disappointment. Book a consultation as soon a possible based on having the other four tips discussed.

2.      Have your venue booked.

Our team of wedding florists will need to know your wedding ceremony and reception locations. Whether it is a Gurdwara, Temple, Mosque or Church we need to make sure we respect the religious principles for these venues. In addition this will apply for stately homes or outdoor locations. In knowing this it will allow us to suggest floral arrangements that will complement the aesthetics of your chosen venue.

We can take a booking with a non refundable reservation retainer and a signed contract with only knowing the venue & date. Of course, a more indepth consultation will need to be planned in when you have the remaining information listed below. We were offering to meet you at your chosen venues to see his we can bring our designs to life talking you through the design board, however due to the current circumstances we can still assist via a Zoom consultation.

3.      Have your colour palette chosen.

It will be easier for your wedding florist to suggest suitable florals to use if they have a colour palette to work with.

4.      Have an idea of the style of outfit(s) you are looking for.

If you have ordered your outfit(s) share your images. Your bouquet/garland design should complement your wedding dress style. It is also helpful to have your bridesmaids dresses selected too.

5.      Create a list of floral needs.

If you have an idea of what you think you will need we can advise you accordingly. We will advise you on items which you may have not considered too!

Think about how many bridesmaid's bouquets do you need? How many guest centrepieces? Do you need ceremony flowers? Is there a stunning fireplace mantel that should be adorned or an entrance that could use some flowers? It's okay if you aren't sure who should have flowers or exactly where you should place flowers at the ceremony or reception. Your florist will go through a list to help you determine who you might want to give flowers to or where you can add floral decor.

6.      Photo Inspiration.

We know there are so many choices out there...styles, designs and themes out there. Bring photos of bouquets, centrepieces, garlands and other floral inspiration you have found however be open to our suggestions for your wedding flowers as we want to make your florals reflect you and your partner. Having a few photos helps your florist to become familiar with your floral style. A Pinterest board is an easy way to showcase what you both like and can be helpful to have and can be sent to us prior to the initial consultation.

7.      Have a budget in mind

The budget may need to be adjusted based on your floral needs and if you are unsure about the cost of flowers your florist will be there to answer any questions.

Most of our couples come to us as they love florals and they want the florals to be a key feature in their wedding. For those Pintrest worthy weddings, lush designs or even the fine art inspired designs a reasonable budget of 20-25% of your total budget is suggested.

8.      Sensitivities & Allergies

We always suggest checking with the bridal party to ensure no one has an allergy to the flowers you are thinking of using before you ask your florist to include them in the bouquets, centrepieces etc. If you know of any guests that have severe allergies, let your florist know.

Due to allergies we avoid using lilies, craspedia or baby's breath in our floral arrangements. However if you’re sure no one has allergies to these then we can offer them. We also work with artifical flowers should someone have sensitivities and allergies. However we do not recommend dyed flowers as the dye could stain outfits.

9.      Book a consultation early

This is especially important if your wedding date is between April and September as these are our most popular wedding months. Autumn  & Winter are also becoming a popular seasons for  weddings and so we are often busy year round with weddings. We suggest contacting your florist 5-8 months prior to the wedding date to set up a consultation. If flowers are a high priority item for you then we suggest setting up a consultation and booking your wedding florist even earlier, between 7-12 months. If you wait until a month or two before the wedding to book a consultation you may be very disappointed to learn that your favourite florist is completely booked for your date.

Since we are also floral design studio, and working with a perishable product, we can only take on a very limited number of wedding and event bookings each week.

10. Have fun

This should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience!

If you are planning your wedding from abroad or from elsewhere we also offer phone or Zoom consultations; What’s app chats or we can simply email back and forth to decide on your wedding flower arrangements.
