Why I Should Consider Faux Garlands

Garlands have always been traditionally worn fresh for the purpose that within certain Hindu rituals flowers have a great significance. Within the religious context flowers have different meaning to different Gods. This is true of colours too. The fragrance of flowers is also as important as the colour and variety.

Garlands express sentiments of purity, love, goodwill, respect and beauty.

However these are our reasons why artificial flowers in your garlands might be right for your wedding:

·       Fresh flowers are nature’s creation so you may be limited to the colour palette however with faux flowers you can precisely match the shade to compliment or match your outfit.

·       As a couple you will probably wear your garlands for majority of the day: ceremony as well as the photo opportunities! If you have sensitivities or allergies then faux flowers remove the chance of a rosey nose or streaming eyes.

·       Fresh florals especially red, burgundy tones or even dyed flowers can bleed colour. When you spend on beautiful couture you don’t want the flowers to stain. With faux flowers this won’t happen.

·       Pollen in fresh flowers attract wasps and bees. Fragrant florals will attract bugs too especially so if you’re having an outdoor ceremony but with faux flowers you don’t need to worry.

·       With the variety of  fresh florals limited to seasonal availability faux flowers are available all year round.

·       Fresh flowers especially roses can be heavy especially if you’re garland is made completely roses. Faux roses allow your garlands to be much lighter, comfortable to wear and hold the shape and design.

·       The greatest advantage to having faux flowers in your garlands is that they won’t wilt or die so they’ll look perfect on the day.

·       Flower garlands are a fantastic keep sake of your Asian ceremony. There some amazing storage solutions available to store your flowers acrylic cases or even beautiful boxes which coordinate your wedding stationery.

·       Using luxury faux flowers may not only be cost effective but having the flowers look realistic is great value too.

We work with a variety of faux flowers. Here are the range which can be considered:

Silk flowers:

As these are more commonly produced they are now more polyester or nylon rather than silk ...the quality will vary and if not handled with care the petals can fray.  They are aesthetically realistic in garlands and we would recommend using them over the other options.

Foam flowers:

We do offer this option in garlands in small doses they look great but we would not suggest these in larger quantities unless you have a budget constraint as these flowers are unrealistic in appearance. The advantage of foam flowers is the range of colours and they won’t run if they are colourfast flowers.

Latex Flowers:

These are classed a real touch flowers and you will notice a distinct difference in texture usually slightly thicker. Due to this there is limited flower variety choice.

Wax-coated Silk Flowers:

These are a higher quality real touch flower option. Due to the level of the cost these are rarely offered by other florists. They are coated and slightly heavier in the garland too.

Paper Flowers:

Handcrafted paper flowers are beautifully curated and look extremely realistic. They are the most delicate and so we do recommend these for garlands. The last thing you would want is to have your garlands crushed when you are hugged whilst being congratulated during a ceremony.

With all floral options for wedding garlands especially Hindu ceremonies be mindful of what type of flowers you choose as all florals are flammable and some are more at risk than others. With the religious ritual walking around the fire this is something which could easily be overlooked. Let us guide you in this area.

Whichever you decide fresh or faux if you’re wanting to get planning your wedding flowers then we have support on hand to help you.
